Another sexy plant XD

After many months of aweing at the cattelya photos on the forum i finally gave in to one.

I am extremely pleased with the purchase, and highly recommend the seller Ray Creek who has a shop on Ebay.

He was quick to reply to all messages and delivered the good fast and well packed.

The plant as you can see has much growth, a very healthy plant indeed.

A beautiful and healthy plant.

Now I understand the meaning of 'light green' leaves are healthier

I am yet to see a cattleya bloom for me

I hope yours does bloom soon.

Good luck.

The brassocattleyas are exquisite. What color blooms on yours? Enjoy!

Thank you , flowerchild. I have new growth in a few of mine too. I hope you are right that new growth will produce flowers.

Some may be brassocattleyas, as sandra suggested. But I like the thick leaves and compact appearance of them , though I usually like huge plants.

Tomm,

You've picked a great plant, but there are unfortunately a few mistakes on the tag. the proper name of the plant is:

Bc. Maikai 'Mayumi' HCC/AOS

Note that both the grex and the cultivar name were misspelled and the award indication omitted. Tsk, tsk, tsk on the grower/nursery/whoever made out that tag.

Here is a link to a pic of the flower.

I had one of these, the same cultivar, for years until i moved down under. i got it for $5 at an orchid society meeting where they did a potting demo and divided up an enormous specimen of one of these. When I got it I think my piece had only 2 pseudobulbs but had probably 25-30 only about 5 or so years later. The plant was awarded in the 80's, if I remember correctly, and the 'Mayumi' cultivar was extensively cloned. It should do really well for you and give you lots of flowers and growth.

thankyou for all the information I think i will be buying more of these very soon

thankyou Kmarch for spotting the mistake, i shall correct it immediately and inform my seller

Just to check a few points: its come in small bark pieces, and its fairly rooty, will it be ok like that? I've read there very sensitive to over watering so would keeping it tightly packed be best?
