| Cyms in Florida? This is a question directed primarily at you Floridians who have had some experience with cyms. I'm considering purchasing one once I've learned more about them and their preferred growing conditions. In researching them on this forum, a couple of people whose opinions I respect have indicated, in past threads, that cyms don't grow/flower well in Florida. Perhaps because it doesn't get cold enough? Has anyone here any experience, good or bad, growing cyms, particularly in central Florida? Guess I'm looking to be rescued from another screw-up. TIA. __________________ E-Jag |

| Cyms are the only Orchid that the American Orchid Society says should not be grown by anyone in the gulf of Mexico states. It is too warm to flower. However, there are several new hybrids that are warm tolerant and can flower in Florida from about Orlando north. It is still difficult as you get into south Florida. I have bought and sold several of these warm tolerant and notice that they tend to be pastel colored flowers mostly some color on a white base. I have not found any that have the vivid colors of the cold Cyms.
