Orchids Native to North America

I purchased several books on orchids and have been surfing for info. Although I read orchids grow everywhere except extremely arid desserts and nearly arctic conditions, I haven't found any mention about orchids native to North America. Does anyone know where I can find out about orchids that may be growing "wild" in the US?

There are quite a few orchids native to West Virginia - can't tell you where to find them. One of our members recently photographed some orchids growing wild. I'll see if I can find the pic.
