newbie in need

hi there. i have an orchid, i think it's a phaleanopsis, but i'm not sure.

the blooms have fallen off and now i need to know how to care for it so that it'll rebloom.

Check out the culture sheets on phalaenopsis on this site http://orchidweb.org/aos/orchids/page01.aspx and then see if you have any follow-up questions. You have a number of options on what to do with the spent spike - leave alone, cut back to the last node (nearest the first flower) and my favorite cut the spike back to the base of the plant. They bloom once a year - usually grow more roots and leaves after blooming and then start another new spike in the late fall or early winter. Enjoy! mike
