Phal flowers die 5 days after opening!

hi all i miss u soooooooooooooooo much and i miss this forum , i have been super-busy with my sister's wedding , God this summer has started with lots of great stuff for me, my graduation , sis wedding , 2 new orchids loooooooool what can i ask more?

i bought a new phal 3 weeks ago and it has been doing great ever since. it had 3 flower buds that were not affected by bud blast when i bought it , they continued to grow and opened into gorgeous flowers. the problem is that each of these new flowers died off 5 days after it opened. the confusing thing is that the same spike has older flowers that were fully open when i bough the phal but these older flowers are still hanging on and looking beautiful !!!

i wonder what might have caused that , i also want to mention that this Phal is placed next to my other phals and they are all doing absolutely great and flowering endlessly for me

miss you all !

Farah

You are having a variation on bud blast. The established flowers were not injured when it was allowed to get too dry or subject to a large temperature change. The younger buds are not as strong and suffered.

It should not be a problem next time it flowers.

Dry drafts are what caused a few Phal flowers to fade for me. I moved my Phals to the center of the greenhouse, away from the wall vents at each end that open every time we get a gust of wind. Seems I live on a ridge top in a very windy area and the wind almost never stops blowing.
