| If you can post a pic or describe the appearance of what kind you have we "might" be able to tell you the general type. If it had or has flowers that could help immensely too. The most common types are phalaenopsis (or moth orchid) which has large wide leaves coming out of a central section, dendrobium which has generally long cane-like growths coming up from the surface of the media, cattleya which has thick semi-oval shaped leaves, oncidium and oncidium intergenerics with large grass-like leaves and swellings at the base called pseudobulbs, and paphiopedelums (slipper orchids). There are literally thousands of types - but these are "some" of the more common. |
