Brown spot on bloom

I have a small Phal with lovely, perfect blooms. I bought the plant while in bloom, so I can't take credit. The leaves were wilted and very dark green. I nursed it back to health (it was underwatered) and now the leaves are lighter green and very firm (have "risen" from the side of the pot), and the roots are green and firm (they were brownish in spots). Everything seems to be going well, but I did notice a brownish area on the rim of one bloom. It is only a few milimeters long and only on the very edge of the bloom. None of the other blooms have this discoloration. Of course, I do not know the age of the blooms. This particular bloom is on the top of the plant and it was the only bloom that was in the "fetal" position when I bought the plant (the other blooms were all fully erect). It is, perhaps, the bloom that was most affected by the shortage of water. Any insight would be appreciated. There are three "buds" on the stem.

mswmom, I wouldn't worry about the plant or the blooms if everything is as you say it is. As noted, that bloom is probably the one most affected. Since you didn't indicate when you bought your phal or where, though, beware of "bud blast." This often happens when a plant which has unopened blooms (buds) is stressed. It went from a grower where conditions were right and the plant bloomed, to wherever you bought it from where conditions were not right, to your place (it's third in it's young life) where conditions hopefully are right again. This stress/multiple changes in environment MAY cause it to drop it's buds ("blast"). If so, while it's a shame to loose blooms, it will bloom again, probably the beginning of next year. Enjoy.

May just be a spot from getting bumped before you got it, my phal did it, but the bud never opened fully and I cut it off. I would not worry too much if the plant is happy.

Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius

I bought a mini-paph at a show, and it's been dropped twice, so the bud got a brown spot. It did open for me, though!
Is that sort of what yours looked like? (Not the flower, of course, but the spot)
