Orchid abbreviations

Can one or more of the seasoned orchid growers/colectors help out us newbs and list what the different abbreviations for the types of orchids? For example, I believe anything with C. xxxxx is for a Cattleya. Thanks!

Jason

A an orchid judge, we get lists or abbreviations, but the list is something like 25 pages long and contains hundreds (something like 500+) of abbreviations. I did find 2 lists on the web which hopefully will contain what you're looking for:

My first resource is

http://www.orchids.mu/Glossary/

The family names run over 60 pages by Orchid Genus - Abbreviation - and Genus combination

I like that you can go from the abbreviation to all the families in the hybrid.
