| pikevi what i would do with the Odm pseudobulb is pot it up into spaghnum moss. I strike all my back bulbs in spagh. I hope this helps |

| kmarch, I am not sure if there are roots. As per fred's suggestion I was planning to repot in sphagnum tomorrow at which time I would know if there are roots or not I took a snapshot of the ID-tag. |

| I found a tonne of cultural info on the plant. http://www.backyardgardener.com/plan...da_1b94-3.html I think the official abbreviation for Odontoglossum is Odont.

| Thank you, kmarch. I got the abbreviation from the 'net!!. (source: http://home.satx.rr.com/vandas/abb.htm I will use Odont. from now on. I will check out the URL you have given. |

| When you unpot it, if it has good roots I would be inclined to put it back in regular mix. If no roots, try the sphag&bag and a bit of rooting hormone.

| pikevi can you please keep us updated with the bulb as its a good way to start of an orchid. I have also found over the years alot of growers will give you a back bulb to get you srarted they take time to strike and grow but well worth it if you have plenty of time. Last year i was given a back bulb of Leopard Lady Mary Smith a cym now it has 2 new growths on the back bulb. Grown in spagh. I think this time next year i will have my first flower spike. It is a slow way to grow orchids but whats the hurry |

| I re-potted the bulb today. It had a fair number of roots , although some were dead or dying. Cleaned it up and potted it with sphagnum and small coconut husk chips. Since there were roots I took both kmarch' s and fred's advice. I hope it is not planted too deeply Photos are attached. |

| I find this sort of thing to be a challenge because if it is too deep the new sprouts will rot off from the moisture yet it is difficult to stabalize the plant in a pot when there are minimal roots and only one bulb. Having said that it does look a little deep to me. I dunno, because I find it tricky, I dont' do much of this sort of thing. What do others think?

| I agree with you kevin. I would lift the bulb and have the bulb so it just sits on the top |
