Leafs Are Getting Worse!! (phal leaf problem)

I repoted my Phal and it was really root bound. I took off all the dead roots and left the white greenish plump roots. But the leaf is getting worse. Its bumpy and leathery. Its not droopy but I dont know why its like this. I thought it was because it got sunburn. I dont want my orchid to die. What can I do??
Do I cut off the leaf or let it be?

I would not cut off a leaf unless it had a fungal disease that could spread to the crown and the rest of the plant. When they are unhappy and turning yellow, they will naturally dry and eventually fall off on their own or can be gently lifted off just before that process. Which leaf is turning yellow? Even healthy phals will loose a leaf or two each year from the bottom - they usually slowly turn yellow over the coarse of a couple of weeks and then dry and fall off. If leaves further up the plant are yellowing there are other potential problems. I have burned off the middle leaves by exposing a plant to too much sun before. A six leaf phal ended up with two bottom leaves and two top leaves. Fortunately it grew two additional leaves as the bottom two dropped off the following year and I could repot and once again end up with a semi-normal looking plant. Most dangerous is loosing the newest leaf, as this often means you are loosing the crown as well. If this happens your plant will not grow any more and will only survive by putting out a keiki and starting over as another plant. As Kevin noted, a picture would be good for additional information. mike

sometimes leaves keep on yellowing after the attempt of repotting , cuz the damage has already occured from rotten roots and repotting couldn't save the ALREADY dieing leaf.

let it yellow and fall off on its own, but keep an eye on that orchid to see if anymore leaves turn yellow (sign of trouble!)

Instead of starting a new thread for the same question but different species, if you all don't mind, I'll ask it here.

My oncidium has so far lost 2 leaves in the last 2 weeks both, having turned yellow. It's in indirect light on the patio (east, morning light), and the air flow has been good so far here in Fla., high humidity as well. I've been watering it once a week. Is there more I should be doing to prevent this?

that looks good to me sandra.

You dont have to worry at all.

You can wait untill the leaf,s drop off or you can split the leaf down the center so you have 2 splits you can remove each one slowly by pulling each split side ways.

Just keep your eyes open for new growth down the bottom.

Thanks for your help. The Leaf fell off naturally and it seems to be doing good. The two remaining leaves are green and healthy.
