Unhappy Leafs gone, and over watered, but separate events.

After 2 years of my orchid being an easy house plant I have run into major problems.
I have found that it was over watered in recent times- so the roots are mostly black (dying) and mushy.
The leaves were a good green color like normal and I did not know anything was wrong until the leafs broke off (I THINK this has more to do with someone bumping them) however that is why i decided to look at the roots and found I was over watering them.

So now I am left with healthy stocks (spikes?) that have flowers about to bloom and a few good roots and a lot of mushy ones. The stem, or crown, at the very tip where it just broke is very dry like it had broken off a little and dried out and then was today gravity finally ripped it the rest of the way....

I assume I should cut the stocks and hope for new leaf growth?

I guess the roots are mostly mushy and brown. But the very top roots are green and sturdy.

Pictures would help because we need to know what you have. If it is a Phal and there are plenty of pictures of Phals on the forum, the leaves falling off is not good. Usually it means they have crown rot which is terminal to the plant. If it is just one or two yellow leaves on the bottom, then that is normal.
