Vanda needs repotting

So one of the vandas I bought came in a 6 inch wooden basket. Its roots are all over the place. How do I get it out ?

Should I trim the roots to get it out of the wooden basket ?

Don't trim the roots! That's how Vandas grow. Unless the basket is starting to fall apart or some of the roots are dead (soft and mushy or hollow) there really isn't a need to change anything.

A picture might help better address the issue but that is my initial thought on the matter.

No! Don't trim! I think they grow the best when they are in baskets. I have 7 of them, 6 of which are in baskets. I wouldn't want to grow them any other way.

Do not trim. Just place the plant, basket and all into another, bigger basket. That's all.

The basket is falling apart , When I say trim I mean cut the roots so I can get it out basket its over growing in the basket.

One top slab on the basket is broken, I Had to cut the roots on the others to get them out the baskets but it was easier. I am taking them out the baskets and hanging them in my terrarium with wire. This one looks like its just a tangled mess. The other vandas are fine they are re growing new roots now

Just put the whole thing in to a larger basket. My 11 year old vanda is in it's 3rd one. It really is the least damaging way.
