Rothschildianum....

Hello all. You may know from my earlier posts that I'm a gardener but have no actual experience with orchids(which is changing now). One thing about me. I LOVE finding the beauty in odd places. I've found great plants at yard sales, thrift shops, auctions and more. Another passion of mine is to have the best of the best. The most beautiful roses, biggest tomatoes, sweetest berries. Well you get the idea. What I'm curious about at the moment is what would be the closest bargain orchid that would simulate the care needed for a Rothschilianium? And lastly, what would a small flask(of rothchildsianium) ballpark? Small flask to me would be 5-10, not sure how you all perceive small here. Ill be anxious to hear any replies. Thx again for a geat forum! P.S. please forgive my lack of paragraphing, trying to figure out this new phone!

From my limited experience - most flasks come with at least 20 orchids in them - often 20 good sized plants and maybe 5-20 smaller plants with questionable viability depending upon the genus. The price will vary depending upon source and specific parents - here is one option at $200 - Orchid Inn, Ltd.. I believe you will be talking about a significant period of time to get these to blooming size - hopefully someone will be along soon to give you that estimate......

you could get an idea of pricing and see what they have available now and in the future by checking: Flask and Established Seedling Sales, and Flasking Programs
many here get flasks from them, and the one I got, (Paphiopedilum gratrixianum 'Olympic' × 'Foster') was easy and in good health.

Why not get a near blooming size plant and REALLY get excited about it?
You can get a plant just a year or two from blooming for as little as $45 here - Orchidaceae, Inc.
