Unidentified Orchid grows but doesn't bloom

Four years ago, my mom got an orchid as a gift from Hawaii. The plant has never bloomed, but has happily produced more and more leaves this entire time. We don't know what kind it is, since it has never had flowers. Can you help identify it, so that we can take steps to encourage it to bloom?

Apparently I can't upload a picture here since I'm new (can't post any urls?), but it's in the gallery under Unidentifiable Orchid, or you can look under my username for my media. Please help!

Looks like a Cattleya alliance plant of some sort. The leaves look like they're a good color, so it's probably getting enough light (too little light is one of the most causes for plants growing well but not blooming). It looks to me like it's a young plant, and it may just not be old enough to bloom yet.

I agree with Jeff. May just be too young.

Definitely a Cattleya hybrid, probably a Slc. or Potinara type, but even when it blooms it will probably not be possible to make a more specific identification. It looks perfectly healthy but you can find plenty of care instructions for Cattleyas if you want to fine tune what you're doing. Based on the progression of leaf sizes I wouldn't be surprised if it blooms on the next growth to mature.

I agree that the plant looks healthy. Maybe to healthy. Those really nice green leaves tells me that its not getting enough light. IMHO, the leaves should have a yellowish tinge to them, at least a little lighter. Let it get some very early morning direct light with bright light the rest of the day. See what happens.
