I sowed a reed stem Epidendrium or poor mans orchid seeds in palm peat and after a couple weeks i noticed these green things in the peat. I hope it is the seeds germinating . Does anyone think they know what it is |

I let the seeds dry for a day or two but they were still a bit green, then i put them in a normal pot as an experiment and that is what happened. I put a plastic bag over the pot to create humidity and i got these results. Hope they are Epi's |

Hi Dane, I never have seen what Epi seed looks like, if they were little balls. Like that and not a powder (microscopic type seed ) then it probably is the epi seed. I was wondering if you capped the pots since I see the pots there. Thanks for clearing that up.. I tried the poormans flasking with dry seed but I think the seed I had (how it looked and condition I received it) was contaminated. I may try again with more types of seed in the future you've re perked my interest to try this way again. Maybe with something more like epi or something terrestrial (not Den seed again). Good luck Dane!! Keep us posted on the progress I'm very interested in how they do Thanks for sharing your journey

They are definitely orchid babies. I think those sort of Epis are relatively easy to germinate that way. You'll need to keep a close eye on the conditions to keep them growing.
