watering question

i have a phal that just bloomed. I have heard that once in bloom to slow down on the watering to preserve its duration. is this true???

If anything , plants in flowers would need a little more water than usual because of just that.. Just becareful not to get water on the blooms and they should last longer, excessive heat and light will also reduce the flowers' longivity. My phals are now reaching the 3rd month in blooms, without losing any flowers ,yet. The first ones on the spikes have faded somewhat, though but they are still perky and pretty.
