New Phal

I was given an old phal, the same as i mentioned in a post yesterday i think with the rubber plant. Well, i removed it from its pot because the medium it came in was some kind of moss, but was so mushy it was horrible. The rooting is good and bad. The bottom ends are nice and green, but the tops are black, also some are a yellow colour :S

can anyone give advice on my handling of it.

Sounds like you did the right thing - removing the old media. Remove all the dead roots - dried, mushy, etc. and keep all the tan/white/green firm plump ones. Put in as small of pot that they remaining roots will comfortably fit with new media of your choice. There are so many options for media and everyone seems to have their favorites. mike
