| mounting an orchid to a house plant i was given this small phal from a relative who doesnt want it now it has gone out of flower. i wondered as it is quite small if i could mount it to my rubber plant, which is reasonably big compared. what do you think? |

| I've never grown a mounted Phal but from what i have heard, they require a warm, high-humidity environment to grow mounted. Does anyone on the forum grow mounted Phals? If so, what conditions do they require? |

| tom499 I talked to a friend of mine who grows phals and he said to me that he would not mount the plant to a rubber plant. his reason was that the rubber plant was not good enough for the phal to take to. sorry i can not ne more help to you. lets hope other members have a better idea for you |

| There is no reason why it would not work. I mount a lot of Phals (remember they grow down naturally not upside down in a pot) Watering is not a problem if the plant is outside, just hit it with a hose often. They dry fast mounted and Phals like to be moist. Fortunately root rot and Crown rot and not problems with mounted Phals but drying is a problem. You might like to mount it on a piece of wood and be able to carry it in the house when it is in flower. Taking the rubber tree inside is not possible when they get 20 feet high. If your rubber tree is potted inside, you need to consider the issue of watering the Phal. Then definitely mount it on wood where you can take it off and dunk it in a bucket of water.
