Orchid as Gift....Help Never Had One

Hi Everyone,

I just received an orchid for my birthday and have no idea how to care for it. I love plants but have never had an orchid.

It came in a 3" pot and is quite beautiful. The name on the tag says it is a Dendrobium Thongchai Lai (Is this it's real name?) It has 15 buds on it and 3 of them are just starting to flower. I can't tell what color they will be just yet. It is planted in what appears to be bark with no dirt. There are roots about 4 inches long coming out of the pot but they appear very dry (does it need transplanting?). So, my question is, "where do I go from here"? I have no idea how to raise one of these beautiful and delicate plants. I'd love to be successful at it but need some starting suggestions. I've been reading and searching the forum but wanted some clear info from some of you orchid specialists out there. Any detailed info will be greatly appreciated!!!!
