Hi... am new :) and need a little help ID-ing these 3 babies pretty please :)

Hi everyone... here are pictures of two Phal. and a yellow bloom Den? Am still rather green with orchids and will really appreciate your help with them. The yellow Bloom orchid was adopted from a landscaper who no longer had time for them. The two Phals in the pixs were purchased yesterday from a florist who put them on quick sale, thus all 3 of them have no id tags.

thankie

The first two are phals but the last one is a cattleya alliance hybrid, not a dendrobium. They're all hybrids so a more specific ID won't be possible but at least you know the genera so you will be able to find out what kind of culture they need.

Kevin, you sure that last one is in the catt alliance? It almost looks like it could be something like Den hancockii or something similar. It almost appears to have a bamboo look to the plant which is making me think this. Either way it is very pretty.

Yup, I'm sure. It's a reed stem epi hybrid, of a line of breeding similar to Epithechea Orange Blaze.

since you are high rise plant grower , you have "high rise problem". One that is north facing corridor which have only 45 mins of sunlight from feb to Sept. Find a south west facing window if you have one. That window will have very very strong direct light and indirect sunlight from feb to sept. The two Phal plant you have cannot handle full sun so North facing corridor should be perfect from feb to sept.(the plant can get sun burn from direct sun).
ID is not possible, it is best to get plant from good hobbyist , Song orchid, Wengleng Nursery, Ho Yee Peng nursery....

Now that I see the photo you've shown and the original image, I can see the similarity. I bow to the master!

They're beautiful plants! Love and enjoy your "noids" (NO ID-entification) Many of my 'chids are noids. I love them as much as the tagged ones.

No bowing necessary, I just happened to recognize this because when I was in the AOS student judging program we started seeing these popping up at shows. They were trying to get the big clusters of brightly coloured flowers (as you see with the reed stemmed epis) with much bigger labelums.

So let's both make a bow to just happening to be in the right place at the right time to learn something new. If I hadn't joined the judging program or if I had moved to Australia a couple of years earlier (I don't recall ever seeing this line of breeding here), I probably wouldn't know what they were.
