Help Identifying my newest babies

I was out and about again today, and the orchid bug hit. I ended up with 3 new beauties since they had an orchid workshop yesterday, and had a bunch left over from that. The bad news was only one of them had a label. I was wondering if the geeks could come to the rescue again for me.

and here is the other one that was unknown

My next question is the second one, does it need to be divided? I was wondering if it needed it. If not, then it definately needs a bigger pot, lol. My hubby had to hold it so I could take its picture.

My last goodie is a L. Santa Barbara Sunset 'Showtime'. Each one, with the yen rate conversion was about 4 to 6 dollars us. I love being in Japan sometimes lol.

They're both cattleya hybrids and as they're hybrids, an ID won't be possible. I'd contact the vendor and see if they might know what they are.

No, it doesn't. Just pot it up in the smallest pot that can comfortably accommodate all of the roots, at least what ones are left after the dead ones are taken off.

They are all in the cattleya family. Don't divide, but a repot is in order.

Congrats - Brooke

Smile

They look like hybrids in the cattleya alliance which makes it impossible to positively I'd them. The first one looks like a mini of some sort. The second one has a slightly frilly lip making me think it is a a Blc possibly. The one crawling out of its pot I'd just re pot it slightly bigger pot I don't see enough good roots to divide it and if you don't divide it will grow to a nice specimen size.
Very nice pick ups and good to see you back

I was wondering if they were Cattleya's....., even hybrids are fine with me. Thats what I wanted to get to try this time..... YEAH

Kinda hard to contact the vendor. I picked them up at a makeman store here, and I dont speak enough japanese to ask them. lol.... one dayyyyy I hope to speak more than hi and thank you.

Now I have to read up on Cattleya repotting... lol

Thanks, I am finding all kinds of NOIDs here, Im hoping I will get to understand the CITES stuff before we come back to the states. I dont think I can leave my beauties behind when we leave. lol. I was very excited to see several other species there with ids all on them, but I was looking for stuff like catts this trip.

Thanks for the welcome back too. Im finally back in japan, after being in the states since mid october cause my dad died. My hubby kept my chids alive while I was gone, and Im adding to my obsession now to keep my mind occupied.

Wow when I posted there were no responses yet Kmarch and Brooke must have posted at same time as I did lol good to see the info I gave was on target
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss my heart goes out to you. Its hard to loose a family member especially a parent.
Good to hear your husband did a good job caring for your chids while you were away. It may be hard to get them back to the states and costly, but I totally understand how they ease the mind especially in times like this for you. I hope you can get your collection to the states when you come back :fingers _crossed:
Hang in there ;knuddel:

Congratulations on getting three Cattleya hybrids in one fell swoop. Your Lc. Santa Barbara Sunset 'Showtime' is indeed a Cattleya hybrid as well. It has Laelia anceps in its background, which makes it more cold tolerant than most Catts. Its a really beautiful blooms, blazing like a sunset. If you wanted Catts then you did VERY well!
