Stupid question re: leaf color

I've had a phal for 11 months and the leaf color in that time has remained fairly stable. Yesterday I noticed that all of the leaves have turned a paler green near their bases, and today the color difference is more pronounced. Does this mean the leaves are growing? Or is it indicative of a problem? I'm sorry this question is so basic, and I'm going to feel foolish if the answer is "they're growing", but I did look around a bit online for an answer to this question and I couldn't find anything that dealt with it directly.

I would check the roots. I always worry when there is a noticable color change that fast. Take a look at what is in the pot. Have you repotted since you got it? No question is stupid except the unasked one!

if it's the older leaves (lower on the plant) that are changing colors, it could indicate a problem. if it's the top leaf, that means it's growing (mine are always a really pale green at the base while they're in active growth, particularly if they're growing fast and the chlorophyll/other pigmentation hasn't had a chance to catch up yet).

I have the same case... the top leaves looked pale green and show some black spots on their surface... the spots feel concave... is there any suggestion?
