Help with Phal. flower stem

IMG_1389[1].jpg
Hi, my question is...could I lop off the top of this Phal flower stem above the top keiki? I am worried this could be knocked over. Your help would be appreciated. I used keiki paste in Sept. last year as a result of these keikis, no roots yet.

I am not expert but I wouldn't think it would hurt to cut just above the first or second node above your keikis. They shouldn't need that part of the stem for anything. Just be sure to powder with cinnamon or something to keep it from getting infected.

I don't know about the spike, but I would cut off that black leaf.

Yeah I was just grimacing at that large black area..

I agree that cutting it above the keiki wouldn't hurt. Maybe keep a node or two distance away from it. In my experience it dies at least an inch back from where you cut it.

Its hard to see when zooming in the area your pointing out. Is it possible for you to post a closer up shot of just the affected area in question......
If your worried about it falling over stick the pot its in into a larger clay pot to support it from tipping over.
