Impossible task?

I bought a Paphinia seedling back in October and quickly realized it was not getting adequate care by me.
Its roots rotted because I choked it with sphagnum in too large of a container.
As a last ditch effort, I stuck it in S/H with some rooting hormone hoping that it would save it.

It has been slowly dying since then. Today I decided to have a look at the roots (because it wasn't improving) and every root was dead and the pseudobulbs are ridiculously shriveled.
To top it off, I accidently pulled off the dying leaves (there was one that was still green)..

I am considering the sphag and bag technique (Reviving a Rootless Phal) but am wary due to my initial results when I used sphagnum.

I'm embarassed to post a picture of the little guy, but I might yet.
So, do you guys think the sphag and bag technique would be worthwhile? Or should I just cut my losses and throw it out..

No clue here....I'm working on killing 2 myself. They seemed so straight-forward in their needs but I obviously have something wrong and for the life of me I can't figure it out.

I've somehow managed to kill off all the oldest leaves on both. One of the plants (which is now 3 plants in 3 separate pots) keeps trying to make new growths but as soon as they get about an inch high they turn brown and dry up.

Well at least they're trying to grow! Hehe

I attempted the sphag and bag technquie, we'll see if that does anything. I might go pick up some superthrive too. But this might be the first orchid I kill ><

Hey, if it's the first one you've ever killed...you're doing very well.

Good luck w/it!!
