Dendrobium Care

I just acquired a Dendrobium Hollywood and another Dendrobium with no label. Wondering if anyone can offer advice on their care. Also, how do I know if a plant is in a 'rest' period and what to do for it? I am new at this. I have 4 phalaenopsis that are doing well and spiking (one of them has 4 spikes!) But I am not sure what I should do differently for the dendrobium.

Thanks,
Jenny

G'Day Jenny

There are many different types of dens. we would need to see what type they are. Someone from CO will be along shortly and they will know the requirements needed.
Welcome to the forum and meantime if you have a look at Dendrobium Species Culture you will see different types need different care.

Cheers
Bernie

The name "Dendrobium Hollywood" is a faux name. It's unfortunately never been registered. But we have seen many pics fo orchids named "Den Hollywood" here on the forum and they appear to be a phalaenanthe-type (phal-type) dendrobium. The general culture sheet form AOS should be useful in this case.

Dendrobium Hollywood

Thanks for your input. I was able to attend an orchid care class at Fantasy Orchids in Louisville, which is about 40 mins from my home . They offered a lot of help. I took furious notes on all the species I have or would like to have in the future. They also offered to look at any orchids I have trouble with and give advice, even if I didn't buy them there. I was impressed! So looks like I am all set for now.

I sincerely appreciate your help!!!

Blessings

Jenny
