Paph spots kinda look like dried blood or rust color.

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting these spots on Paph? I have posted the top of the plant which is easier to see red like dried blood. Underneath the leaves it's more like a rust color but tough to photograph well. Is this a sign of too much sun?

Can't tell anything from the second pic, too blurry, but the spot shown in the first pic looks like a bit of rot I get from time to time when the leaves don't dry off well enough after watering. How's your air circulation? Is it like a soft breeze constantly blowing? How'r your night time temps?

Here's a better picture Kmarch. I took a picture from underneath the leaf and you can see what I meant about the rust color. I have a ceiling fan in that room constantly and it's sitting in a moisture tray with 3 other paphs. The others don't seem to be doing it. I also don't mist my orchids typically. Should I be? Night time temp has been low 60's. Last month dipped into the mid to low 50's at night maybe.

I think your temps sound fine. Your paph appears to be a maudiae-type which takes intermediate temps (55F minimum). Honestly I've never seen anything quite like the underside. It looks like it was wet with tea or something then dried. Can you wipe it off? If so I wouldn't' worry about it. If not....hmmmm maybe some kind of fungus?

Has the spot grown? Kmarch should he take a non toxic pen or marker and draw around the spot to see if it spreads or do you think it may not be that serious? I think maybe spray with physan 20 just in case ..... Kmarch? What's your opinion?

I've never done the "circle the spot" thing but I have on occasion just cut the spot out fo the leaf. I'm more concerned about the "smudge" on the underside because I'm not sure what it is.

My paph Maudiae has recently started to get this type of coloring starting at the tip of a leaf and it has moved in some. I have really contemplated cutting the tip of just to stop it. Looks like some type of rot or dead cells, but your underside looks like a splash of something like Kevin said.

Nancy, is this leaf the oldest on the plant? It's normal for a paph to occasionally loose an old leaf. When they do it looks like this. If it is a new leaf however it might be another cause like over fertilizing, allowing the plant to get too dry, etc.

I believe it is the oldest leaf on the growth from the last bloom I had in the fall.

I was just curious since it was a lot like his coloring, sorry to hijack.

No worries, I'm interested in yours as well. I have a Paph with the same leaf markings as yours but I haven't lost any leaves yet.

Mine is still hanging on as well. No telling what he is up to. But he is currently in bloom and was right before this flower too so I am not sure what he is up to.

He sure is making me smile though.
