Will this hurt my Oncidium?

I have this Oncidium that is about to start pushing the pseudobulb out. It is growing right into the pot. I have tried wedging some of the bark between the plant and the pot to guide it but I am afraid that a spike may not be able to get through since this is where they typically come from on this type orchid. Should I try and assist it around the older pseudobulb so that it has room ro grow, re-pot it, or just leave it alone and hope for the best? I posted pictures showing different angles.

It will find it's way out....you can repot but I would probably leave it alone for one more flowering then repot when the next new growth appears. How's that Ginger Bread Ale coming along?

Thanks Edgy! I bottled it this weekend and I just gave one of the bottles a slight shake to see how the carbonation process was coming along. There were plenty of bubbles so I should be in for some good brew in about a week, Next will be a Honey Sage.

I'd just pot it up into a slightly larger pot.

If you do decide the repot, make sure the oldest growth (opposite from where new growth is growing) is pushed against the side of pot, so the orchid can 'walk' across the medium and have room to grow for 1-2 years.

Oncids don't grow from only one direction so this isn't necessarily true. When I grew Oncids, I would do my best to center the plant because they tend to grow around rather than in a line.

I'm with Kevin...I'd repot now. Oncids are notoriously hard to keep hydrated and that new growth will surely end up hanging outside the pot...especially it's roots. You stand a better chance of keeping the pbulb plump and nice if the roots have contact w/the medium.

Plus, new growth starting and new roots developing = perfect timing for a repot.
