ihatepavelbure is on a distinguished road
partially dead pseudobulb

The oldest (and biggest) of our orchid's pseudobulbs had serious damage after an ant infestation and subsequent repotting. the upper half of the pseudobulb apparently died; it's brown and totally shriveled. But the lower half looks normal. It has been like this for a couple months at least. The rest of the plant looks fine. It's never reflowered, but I think this is because our lighting is not great.

Today I cut away most of the top dead part, but there is still some of the brown, shriveled matter and I did not cut into the green area of the pseudobulb. Did I do the right thing?
