Exclamation NOOBIE with Phals.. HELP!!

Hey guy this is Jaqie from NJ.

I've had this Phal since december. It was a gift in a glass pot, good for decoration but I haven't the time or decisiveness to put it in a better pot. I went to home depot bunch of times but i didn't know what to get.

But moving onto my problem. I bought miracle grow's orchid plant food and i used that. It went from buds to all full bloomed flowers!

BUT - around the week of jan 20. i think i put way too much water.

NOW.. it's about a month later and i was about to water it for a monthly watering and i never noticed that the leaves were SO LIMP!! and also the flowers closed to the stem have some rotten petals.

But they're not completely dead just really thin and if you touch it they're a litle hard. and i checked the roots and I think they're rotten away!!

CAN I SAVE THIS PLANT?!!?? help ME!

Welcome to the forum Jaqie from NJ!
The majority of phals are potted in plastic pots and then those pots placed in decorative pots for display (when blooming). You probably don't need a new pot at this point for repotting. If you have overwatered you will need to remove the plant from the current pot and remove all black, mushy, and otherwise bad roots. The roots you leave will be plump, tan-green-or greyish colored. What kind of media is it in now? A picture of your plant might be helpful if you can post a digital pic. "Monthly" watering? How often have you been watering? Depending upon the time of year/environment and the media used the range of times between waterings can vary considerably - from every few days to maybe every few weeks - but not monthly. Flowers (depending upon many factors) may last from a couple months to 5-6 or even more. They fade away from the bottom to the tip - depending upon how long they were blooming before you got them this may not be abnormal to be loosing some now. Can you save it? Probably. First on the agenda - examine roots, clean up, repot as needed. Keep pot size small. mike
