Vanda kultana

Hi,

I hope I am not breaching the protocol by re-posting.

I recently purchased a vanda and set it up in a metal basket with lots of bark at the base and just very loosely packed spanish moss around the roots. Roots have enough air circulation, I hope. (pl. see photo). There is a small plastic tray at the bottom which has water and I spray with warm spring water in the morning and at night, roughly 10-12 hour intervals.

Is it acceptable or should I remove the spanish moss?

Thank you

Remove the Spanish moss it will die and probably infect the plant.

Vanda in general do not like anything around their roots. Large bark is an acceptable compromise to keep the from drying too fast if you can not water often enough.

hello jerrymeola,

I will do it , hopefully tonite. But, just in case, would it be OK to wait until the weekend? It has been already 4 days since I potted it.

Thank you so much.

Also how can I apply the fertilizer?
