Problem with oncidium?

This is an oncidium Colmanara 'Jungle MonarchxEverglades' It was inadvertently left at an art gallery and reclaimed months later. It doesn't appear to be in such bad shape but those dark bulbs worry me. They are not soft and show no signs of rot. The roots also are firm where they are not dead. I've had it back for for 3 or 4 months now and there is some new growth on one of the plants and some new root growth even on the dark pseudobulbs. Only one leaf appear to be yellowing a bit.
I tore it apart today and was going to cut off the new growths and pot them up separately just in case it had a problem then chickened out. Do I have a serious problem here that warrants surgery or do some of these pseudobulbs darken like this as they age?

dark pb can indicate a problem, if they are soft and squishy,i just twist them off trying not to disturb new growth. just an observation these types bloom best when left undisturbed and get kind of pot bound."tight shoes" some say. i may take another year or so for a bloom, maybe less if conditions are ideal, good luck with yours

Thanks, I've repotted and taken off the dark bulbs with no leaves. Also found that a lot of the roots were dried up. The pseudobulbs were hard not squishy. Guess I'll just watch them and hope for the best.

I am sorry to say that the first thing that comes to mind when looking at such things is to tell someone to do surgery. After the fact we sometimes find that it was just some discoloration on the surface of the bulb and the poor beginner was left with very little plant left unnecessarily. I think in a case like this, a little minor cutting if possible to see if the color goes thru the bulb or just at the surface needs to be done. If the bulbs you took off are only discolored externally, you might be able to start some new plants from them.
