Buying in S. Florida and transporting by plane

Hi,

I have some relatives coming to visit from Wisconsin. They love orchids and want to buy some down here. Does anyone know if the airline will let them bring them back if they are carrying them onboard?

When I went to Hawaii a few months ago, the orchid nursery I went to sealed everything I bought, and placed an inspection sticker on them. I packed them in my carry on, and I had no problem.

The airlines normally do not question a small amount of orchids.

However, I recommend to my customers not to have clay pots if they are carry ons. Swinging one in a bag is quite a weapon, and a security officer may think the same.
