Is this heat stress? Will it go away?

It got to 100 degrees here in Pasadena today.
Supposed to have the same tomorrow and Thurs then it breaks on Fri.
We have limited A/C here in our apartment and we are in a second floor unit in a red brick building.
I haven't been running the A/C unit while we are at work because of the expense.
It has been a mild summer up till now and using two fans in the window of my grow space has worked out OK so far.
But when i got home from work today I noticed some ridges in many of my leaves. i'm guessing from heat stress.
Tomorrow I'm going to roll the dice, close the windows and hope that the 10,000 BTU "move and cool" can do a better job than the two fans in the windows did today.
The power bill is going to kill me but I'll deal with it when it comes.
Hopefully there won't be that many 100+ days left.
I'm not sure if i'm being a hypochondriac and those ridges have been there the whole time.
So Is This Heat Stress??? Will It Go Away if I Keep Them Hydrated???
GAH!
P.S. sorry for the crappy iFone foto...

VEEKTOR,

The ridges on your leaves may be related to the heat. It's difficult to tell w/o a foto....

Heat stress does strange things to plants and people. When I was having my heatwave along with the humidity I put some extra water in my humidity trays for my moisture loving masdies and paphs and it worked. My moisture lovers in s/h I was watering every couple of days. If the pleats are accordion shaped you need to up the humidity. Giving them a spritz of water may help. The pleats won't hurt the leaves but give them some character.

Have you tried running a fan while the ac is on to circulate the air a little bit better Leave the ac on low and run a fan.

Some phals will have ridges like that naturally as the leaves mature - as long as the entire leaf as a unit has good turgor I wouldn't be too concerned. I'm going to step out on a limb and suggest that this leaf was probably already that way before your heat day. All my phals are in a room that doesn't have air conditioning and we've had a number of 90-100 degree days (107 last year) - the phals don't seem to mind it a bit. Good air circulation is a definate PLUS.

My phals stay in my sun room, where its the hottest room in the house.
I never turn a/c on there, but run fans all the time.
my thermoniter says its 90's+ all the time, and They dont seem to mind it.

VEEKTOR, I don't see any cause for concern in your new foto.

I agree I use A/C all the time and a fan on another gtroup of Chids and some of my Phals have ridges. I think the leaf looks fine.
You should see an ugly leaf caused by sunburn on a Phal and it blooms like crazy. It just finished blooming after about a 3-4 month run. It hasn't even dropped the leaf.
I would put some gravel trays with water though and just stay with the fans. Why stress your A?C budget. I always caution my plants. "Live or you will die"
LOL Good luck Fall is coming.
The second Photo shows a new leaf comapred to the older affected ones.

Wow thanks everyone! That puts my mind to rest.
Hypochondriac police PULL OVER!!!
I just got several of these plant the
other day and did not notice the ridges in the leaves.
Got to learn not to imagine the worst all the time.
That part of the reasons I took up this hobby.
Smiles,
Victor

Victor,

Today, I "rescued" two Lycaste hybrids from the heat in California, by purchase They are beautiful plants. The vendor is Cal-West Orchids.

My intention is to help these plants mature and flower away from the oppressive environment which is currently enveloping California!

Wish me luck!

Perhaps you Californians have some "inside" knowledge?
WHY is there a sticker on the outside of the shipping box re: a USDA matter:

CERTIFIED UNDER
FEDERAL DOMESTIC QUARANTINE ORDER
LIGHT BROWN APPLE MOTH
EPIPHYAS POSTVITTANA
42QLBAM0003572

I have never seen this before! Lordy, there are a LOT of apple orchards nearby in Md. Va, and WVa!

I'm not familiar with the specifics of the law, but there have been some light brown apple moths found in several spots in California, and thus there are some restrictions on moving produce and plants. Apparently it is a serious threat.
