C. guttata alba

In the early fall I bought a small plant in a 2 1/2 in pot labeled C. guttata alba.
It is potted in little round clay colored balls. I have never seen this medium before. From what I read here this sounds like semi hydroponic culture. Should I put this in a tray or second pot and keep water in it at all times or should I just water it as I have been doing, about once a week?
Any other information about the culture of this orchid would be appreciated. Thanks!

They are hydroponic rocks and you can grow a Cattleya either as true hydroponic with a clay saucer, or as I do just use the rocks for its good drainage and water it like in was in bark but a little more often.

They have no organic matter so they need to be fertilized regular. Mine are outside in the rain so they get flushed naturally. If not flush yours by running water over it for 15-20 minutes once about every 3-4 months.

Thanks for the info. Since it is in such a small pot I think I will put a saucer under it and let it drain into that so it gets just a bit more water. I do not water that frequently (I have to carry water because mine is softened) so perhaps this would be the best solution if I am going to leave it in the medium it is in.
