Exclamation Why are my flowers already falling?

when i got my phal it was about 4 weeks ago, and the top buds where still blooming, and now they are starting to fall off?!?!?! i thought they where supposed to bloom for over 3 months?

is it because of humidity? i dont' have enough?

and i know that you can make it bloom again if you only cut the stem to the last noid, which im going to do. but should i wait till all the flowers all fall off or cut it now?

When a phal is moved to a new place (i.e., to a new home), it might suffer stress, and as a result, shed flowers early. Don't worry about it--as long as the roots are healthy, your plant will adapt to its new home and bloom again the future. The reason I mentioned roots is that sometimes, a phal without good roots does not have sufficient energy to support all its flowers, so the flowers drop early.

Normally, phals do bloom around 2-3 months.

You can increase humidity by placing a tray with water and pebbles. Be sure the water's not touching the bottom of the pot though!

If the orchid has good roots, you can wait 'til the flowers fade before cutting the spike. If not, then cut the spike to the bottom asap.

Good luck!

Bloom time can vary with phals. especially when purchased in bloom. 4 weeks can be considered a pretty good run so don't be discouraged. Once the plant aclimates to your growing conditions the next bloom cycle will most likely last longer. If you still have open healthy blooms enjoy them then cut the spike, that is unless you want to. If you didn't repot the plant since you brought it home now would also be a good time to do that and clean the plant up a little.

Oopps looks like orchidaddict and I posted at the same time, and provided some good info too!!!
