Tag identification help: Den L. Ne Krang

Hi everyone,

So I bought this dendrobium from Trader Joe's. Just discovered that it has a tag: which reads Den L. Ne Krang.

I think it's a phal type dendro, but not sure about how to decipher the rest, and I'd imagine there's a sticky on the subject. Any help in getting to the correct culture sheet will be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Janel

Please post a photo of the whole plant, and a pic of the close up on the flower.
It would help us a lot too see the plant

hmmmm....that's a doozy. is the tag clearly printed, or is there a possibility that some letters may be smudged? i can't find anything remotely close in the RHS database (the people in charge of keeping track of registered orchid names). perhaps you can post a pic of the tag itself?

if it doesn't appear there's letters missing or smudged, it looks like your orchid will forever be unknown in name. if you can post a pic of the plant, we might be able to help you determine what type of den. it is, and then steer you to the correct culture sheet for it

ETA: hehe, jinx on phalcycle. seems we were posting at the same time!

Lol,

I just did a search on RHS and couldn't find anything close to the name either.
I think that name was just for the commercial purposes, not the real ID for the den.

pics of mystery den

So here's a closeup when it was in bloom, and a pic of the whole thing. Upon further inspection of the distributor's website (kerrys.com), I thought it might be fox tail - difficult to say, as their descriptions are the same for each dendro.

Thanks again!

I found a registered Den. Nerang. It's kinda close in a sloppy tag kind of way, but there is no way to be sure unless you can contact the grower.

Ah well. I suppose sloppy tagging is part of the art. It does look an awful lot like one of zanabria's birthday orchid blooms - the 5th one down. I'll have to ask her.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
