Deformed flowers on Brassavola hybrid

I bought this Bc. ("Little Stars"X"Maikai") hawaii in spike, and it looks like 2 out of three of the flowers are deformed. Is this a result of something I did, or is it genetic?

Nothing you did and not genetic. This is halfway to bud blast. Probably a chill, or shipping, or any stress while the bud was forming or in transport.

This is an extremely hardy hybrid, one that I suggest to newbies, any I have several for myself. I do find a variance in color in the plants. Seed plants do that. Most of mine are lighter color, with one that tended more to rust color. Temperatures went to freezing last night so I will know in a few days how the buds handled the cold. I had several in bud.

you can expect perfect flowers next bloom.

It did spend a few hours in a cold car on the way home, maybe that did it. About the color variation, I thought it would turn out a light pink, like the one in this picture. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is Bc. Maikai crossed back to one of its parents, B. nodosa "little stars".
