It's been a few months, and my Arundinia has finally sprouted! Thank you, Cynthia, for your advise. What do I do now?

Wow, that looks really great! I started with two pieces, both already with a growth and a couple of roots. One is now 6-8" tall, but the other seems to be having trouble getting going. It is about 2-3" tall, and is root shy. I may have over done my experiments with hormones. I think I have come to the conclusion that rooting hormones (auxins) don't produce roots on orchids, but cause more eyes to start at the expense of roots.

I have 2, but the other one is coming along alot slower. It has formed an eye and a single root, but no leaves yet. At what point should I pot the one with leaves and what medium would you suggest?

The one in the picture could be potted now. I would suggest either small bark or Cymbidium mix as these are terrestrial (simi-terrestrial?) and need lots of moisture.

Should I cut the stalk off?There doesn't seem to be anything growing on it

Just so long as there is still a little green in it, leave it on. The growth is still drawing on the reserves in the old stem.
