cymbidium new groth idenification

I am not sure if this is a flower or a bulb??

Any Ideas??

This plat was just in flower about a month ago but the flowers got knocked off (my cat) so I don't know if this would make it put up a new flower or if this is just a new bulb?

The growth is coming from right under one of the dead flower spikes.

BTW the plant is doing FABULOUS, it seems really happy here!

Your bulbs look nice and fat so it wouls seem you're doing well with this one. It's always tough with cymbidiums to say which is a spike and which is a new growth when they first appear. Based on 1) the fact that the plant has already spiked this year, 2) you're moving into your spring growing phase, and 3) the growth looks quite "pointy" as opposed to rounder and fuller, I'd venture an educated guess that this is a growth.

That's what I figured as well.

Any growth is good growth!

I had this plant in a south facing window for a while and it actually got a bit of a sun burn in the middle of a Canadian winter lol, so I put a sheer in front of it and its doing much better, its right by a window that I can open with the weather is +3 or so and it gets a nice cool breeze and lots of filtered light.

I am going to put it outside as soon as frost clears away.

G'Day Pugmom

I'd go for new growth, the way your plant looks probably the first of many should be a real show next flowering season.

Cheers
Bernie
