Repotting a plant with bunches of aerials roots

Okay this a real newbie question..... I have no idea what to do with all of these roots coming out of this catt when I repot it. It came with the roots like this when I ordered it. Do I try to stuff these roots in the new pot or leave them alone!

Also it's currently potted in lava rock is repotme.com cattleya medium okay to use?

Here's a pix below..
Thanks much!

Well that is one seriously overgrown Catt. lol It looks happy.

It's not a problem, yes soak the plant well, so the roots are nice and pliable, and they can be potted into your new pot.

As for Catt bark, shouldn't be a problem, but remember your new potting media is going to hold water differently that what it's in now, so just be careful and check more often on the plant until you get a feel for how it behaves in the new stuff.

FYI - I've found it really really hard to get orchid roots off of lava rock without destroying the roots. It takes a while, I usually end up being frustrated.

I would say the plant is in need of a repot. I personally try to pot the roots into the medium as much as I can. If you soak the plant well, the roots should be pliable enough to pot. Others may have other opinions on this. I'm sure they will jump in soon. I use repotme's catt mix as well as some of their mixes and I like it.

it looks very happy and free! lol....but in need of a repot....i agree with all the above, you might end up washing the lava rock out of the roots....but it is for the best to put it in bark....repotme is good stuff....

that is an impressive network of roots! i'm sure other members will have advice here. as said before, soaking before potting makes the roots much easier to manage.

since the plant is very healthy, would you consider dividing? it seems to be a good candidate for it.

good growing!
