| Andrew This photo is the exact plant that you bought. I took the photo the day before you bought it. I remember you bought a couple of non-blooming Nobiles, and the ones I stillhave are just starfting to bud this week. You can expect flowers on your other color varieties soon.

| Nobile buds at first look like small roundish bumps growing out of the sides of the cane. They then develop into single buds or clusters of buds that are asymmetrically thick at the base and pointed at the tip. It's too dark right now to go out to the GH and take a photo, but I'm sure Jerry has some he can post. Nobiles sometimes develop keikis on the cane, too. These tend to start out more pointed than flower buds and quickly take on the look of small canes. |

| Wow! Gorgeous, you're making me jealous-I have one of those but so far no sign of spike! Jerry, you're in Florida,I'm in Oklahoma, colder weather then your's.Any guess as to when the nobiles normally spike(1 in greenhouse,2 in sunroom) in a cooler, shorter climate as it is now, here? |

| Lucinda, With hybrids there is some variation on blooming times based on the parents and growing conditions. They needed 50 degree temperatures for about a month at night to set. While saying that as a generalization, mine did not get that cool and are all budding anyway. They seemed to be satisfied when the temperatures dropped from the nineties to 65. I would think length of the day is also a big factor. You should have buds at least by March.

Bill, I wanted to let you know I got some fine den. nobiles from Slyvies Orchids,my thrysoflorum, the good one, I believe came from Kawamoto Orchids, not positive on that one, lost tag. I have 3 other nobiles(not 2)that haven't followed suite as yet,but hoping! Last edited by Lucinda Brown; 01-06-2007 at 04:50 AM. |
