Cymbidium Sheath Turning Brown

Hi guys,

One of my cymbidiums has a new sheath/spike. It hasn't opened up yet to produce the spike, but the outermost layer of covering on it is turning brown. Is this normal? Or should I be worried that it's gonna abandon the spike and not produce flowers?
