Cool ceciliaL

hello everyone!!

I have two catleya's each has two sheath buds. I can see a bark spot at the base of each that I am hoping is a bud. problem is one of the sheath started
getting brown spots and now has completely turn brown. Is there something wrong and if so what can I do. The others are still green.

Thank, ceciliaL

i am not an expert but it sounds like a fungus. i had that recently. need to cut it back 1/2 past the brown and then flush with a good fungicide and most likely replant in new medium. then water carefully for a while. without pictures, it is hard to tell but sounds like what one of my cat's got last month. hope it helps

Sheaths often dry out before opening. Do not cut it off or you will be cutting the bud as well. If a bud has formed in the sheath it will bloom. Keep in mind that not all sheaths bloom.
