lots of roots

i recently bought a dendrobium, it has a lot of roots growing from i guess the stalk, should i pot it in a pot that will cover the roots or leave it be?

If the growth is part way up the cane you are probably growing a keiki (a baby plant) . It will have leaves growing just above these new roots.

If this is the case you can leave it until the roots are about 4-5 inches long and then remove the keiki from the parent plant and re-pot it.
