You can find excellent advice on phal culture at the Canadian Orchid Congress, which includes a discussion of repotting.

There is also a repotting pictorial on this forum, tho I don't have a link for it. I'm sure you can find it.

Good luck. It's not so hard, just scary the first time

for a hot and wet environment like ours. You need to have lots of sunlight (not direct) growing the normal type is never a problem. One of the easiest type to grow just have fungicides , fertilizers ... Air movement is also very important, you want the water to dry up fast so that fungus dont grow well. having 15 min of sun light(morning) will kill most fungus. long hours of sunlight will discourage bad fungus from growing.
So in another words having a good cultural environment is crucial in growing any orchids.

Hey there! I am newbie too and JUST re-potted my phal. I got mine over Mother's Day and it was potted in moss and I have been told to re-pot in bark. I was scared to do it but I just did it yesterday and went a lot smoother than I thought! There are a lot of nice people who give GREAT advice! What are you re-potting in? Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!!! Like someone told me, we all are learning together!
