In short - it is a natural fertilizer as well as it can work as a natural pesticide.

has there been studies made comparing worm tea with other organic ferts? i am trying
to get my hands on worm tea but its just not available here. so i opted for the next
thing, i got myself a FishEmulsion/SeaWeed/Guano ferts, so far i've got new roots
growths and greener leaves for my vandas, so no compaints here (it may be due to
our rains also) but id still love to see a comparison.

I thought Jerry said worm tea was not a fertilizer. Or am I getting confused?

Worm tea more properly called Vermi-liquid is not a fertilizer but all the micros than make a plant capable of absorbing nutrition.

Plants are capable of taking nutrients from their environment with only worm tea. It is used without other fertilizers for growing food in third world countries where fertilizer is very expensive and it works well.

There is an entire village in Guatemala growing a coffee plantation with only worm tea.

It can be used with chemical fertilizers on orchids but not necessary. Phosphorous kills beneficial microbes in all growing mediums. I find the large number of microbes I add with worm tea leaves plenty for the plant when I also use slow release fertilizer pellets.

Worm castings (worm manure) is a fertilizer the same as cow manure but worm manure is totally organic whereas cow manure can have growth steroids and antibiotics that were feed to the cows.

Vermi-liquid has ceitanese in it which dissolves ceitain. Since the skeleton of an insect is ceitain it works as an organic pesticide. Ceitanese is harmless to humans and pets.

Would it possibly be beneficial to spray my ailing Onc. with worm tea? At this point, I'll try anything to help the root system along.

I'm sure. Just wondering if it would in any way benefit the growth of roots in my plant. I'm following the culture sheet. Just curious as to whethr or nor, in addition, worm tea would be beneficial.

Worm Tea~ What can I not say about worm tea?

This stuff is liquid gold. My orchids love it and I swear if I knew that there were benefits to humans I would drink it.

That's how much I swear by worm tea.

I doubt that drinking it would do any good but a customer had a dog that ate it, bottles and all. He proved it was harmless.

There is a health product (Natures Solution) made almost the same way, more purified for human use. I personally use it. It is only for a topical skin treatment. Good for sunburn, rashes and all kinds of dry skin conditions.

Human urea was used as an antiseptic for decades before chemical anti-biopics were discovered.

With all due respect to the makers of Nature's Solution, I'm having a hard time trying not to laugh at the thought of the "health kickers" unwittingly rubbing liquid cow sh*t into their skin. I'm going to have to read the labels on bottles A LOT more carefully.

Try not to laugh too hard. I thought it was absurd as well, but there are a lot of the 'Ol timers here in Indiana that swear by doing that. I giggled at the thought as well, and I'd never do it, but some of the women say that it softens the skin and removes several ailments.....

Going by their website, Nature's Solution appears to either be or be made from OVE worm tea. Jerry has previously stated that OVE uses cow manure as a bedding for their worm bins.

I have no idea where the connection with between this product and urine/urea came from. I was under the impression that, due to bacterial decompostion in the gut, most of the nitrogenous waste excreted by worms is ammonium with only small amounts of urea passing out of the worm. Even then, most of it should be broken down to nitrates by the time it is collected and bottled.

Ok...feel free to call me stupid but but I have never heard of anti-biopics. What is it?

Here's something to add to the "gross" list...people use human urine for a lot of different "medical" treatments. Google 'Urine Therapy'. YUK!

I have an old worm bed. What you all are saying is I have a small gold nugget? All I have to do is re-establish it and pour water through, collect it and administer to my orchids? That is too easy. Worms are about a buck a dozen at any bait and tackle store. Anyone can start a worm bed with peat, worms and cornmeal in a container as small as a 5 gal bucket. (Fishing is something I have done for my whole life) Sounds like this farmer's dream
