Purple Equitant Oncidium

I have several bareroot oncidium equitants, either in teak baskets or mounted. Two are getting a purplish tinge to their leaves. I'm thinking this may be a sign of too much light. They are generally healthy in every other way. The purplish tinge has me befuddled, though. Anybody out there know why,for sure, this is happening?

My assumption would be exactly the same as yours. I put most of my orchids outside for the summer and quite a few of them also got reddish/purple-ish tinged - lots of sunshine. I was led to believe that this would stick with them when I brought them back in, but they already seem to be fading back to more green after three weeks inside. mike

It is a result of extra sun and it can be just a little extra. It is happening now when the sun lower in the sky is less intent in intensity.

I have some turning purple on the bench when the same species next to it is totally green. Each plant reacts a little different.

A little more shade is called for.
