Advice Needed Please

I just got my first orchid plant this Mothers Day and full of flowers and beautiful.....but I can't find it's type on the interner. This site is a blessing as I have learned so much already.

It's marked Den Dream x Den Red Empire.

I've learned that it's a Dendrobium......I'm guessing it's the Nobile type? It has 6 canes and one new shoot. One cane is in full bloom. It is white with pale purple/pink flowers with pale yellow in the centers. The canes have fat and thin sections. Some leaves are a darker green, and the tips are a light green but only on the shorter canes......is this new growth? The flowers are not rounded but kind of thin and willowey, something like buttOn's picture.

Is one hour in bright, filtered sun enough if the rest of the day is not direct sun?

Thank you so much for replies. I'm lovin' it already!

Hai welcome to the forum. If you only 1 hour that is really short. I personally believe in minimum four hours. Is it possible for you to place the plant outdoor?

i am finding one reference to the plant from a local grower; if his tags are right (and they usually are) then yes, it's a nobile type, and if you go here

Dormant phase for my den noble?

you can find an arm waving discussion on culture for nobiles in FL. enjoy!

Thanks for the tips. I surley do appreciate it.

If I keep my orchid outdoors, will it be easy prey for disease or insects? I also live in southwest Fl. where the temps. have already been up to 96 degrees F.

We are now going into the rainey season which means a good amount of rain every afternoon. Won't the orchid be overwatered?

I never knew I'd feel this protective of a plant.......I feel like a new parent. LOL.
