Anyone have any experience with this? Is it even necessary along with Superthrive ?

From what I understand, KLN has the same stuff as Superthrive plus some other beneficial stuff (I just can't remember what the 'stuff' is) so you don't need to use them both at the same time, maybe alternate them and when your Superthrive is gone just use KLN. KLN is far superior for encouraging root growth after repotting and deflasking and for rooting cuttings all types of plants. If you have an orchid that has lost it's roots you can soak it in KLN (follow directions for mixing) to get new root growth, superthrive will not do that.

I have seen some caution about these products especially their use near blooming. That they may cause flower distortions. I am sure none of this has been studied scientifically.

They can definitely cause flower mutations if used heavily. If you use in moderation (1 drop per gallon) then it will be fine. I use 1 drop per gallon of superthrive with every watering. I have had some great growth without a problem to flowers.
