| The others.
Here are the other two I have recently added: PIC 1-2--Are the leaves OK on the Milt? PIC 3-4--Not sure what this one is. Worried as to why the leaves bent?? I thought the roots were really bad on this one and cut many off because they werre yellow looking and very soft. Are they suppose to look that way? Im worried. PIC5-7-- Labeled....Pot Creation ( Pot. ChatoyantX Orglade Glow) has a funny smell. Is that as open as the blooms get? Thanks for you help everyone! Last edited by bemarine; 04-30-2009 at 11:19 AM. |

Nice Haul! They look great. I didn't see any problems from the pictures. I know you asked about some brown on a Paph leaf, but I didn't see anything that stood out. And the unknown plant in the second post is some type from the Cattleya Alliance and should probably get general Cattleya care. As for the Psychopsis, it would like a medium light, not quite as high as Cattleya, but higher than Phals. If you have a place like this outside it should do well. Your humidity is plenty high enough in the summer in Houston, and the temps should be fine. If it gets really warm, make sure there is a breeze over them.

I am not familira with all the plants but i also recieved a Psy. Mariposa"Green Valley" earlier today. After checking with the grower, online and advice from this forum i trust that it's like an Oncidium with needs. I am to keeping it in house at 16-22C range with weekly watering.

Hi. Only problem I will approach is the Paph. I can not see any problems on the leaf from the photo. My only comment would be to cover the base above the roots with a further 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch with your potting mix. Reason: If any new roots or growth come out of the base they will be out in the air and the roots will not form properly. I like to have this area coverd so as the new roots start to grow they enter the potting mix straight away and grow away quickly Best of luck Ron |

Wow, that's quite a haul! Quote:
In my opinion this plant looks dehydrated. You'll want to first check the roots (and probably repot if it has not been done recently). Remove dead, dark brown or black, mushy ones. Read the Cattleya culture sheet here on the forum or at AOS | Members Only Area and give your cattleya good cattleya culture. The pseudobulbs may eventually plump back up a little but probably won't ever be as plump as the new ones. Quote:
You should keep your Psychopsis wherever it can receive the conditions (light, temperature, humidity, etc., etc.) that it wants. Take a look at the Oncidium culture sheet and find the place in or around your house which most closely matches the conditions indicated on the culture sheet.

Sorry I missed this post. To me the leaves of the miltoniopsis are fine. They are usually a light green. The tips can turn of bit yellowish. I never found this being a prob with miltoniopsis and oncidiums. Actually the prob with milto is watering, not a question of lighting. Miltoniopsis are not forgiving if the watering schedule is not appropriate. You will get platted leaves and twisted spikes. Anyway, you got yourself some beautiful plants. Celine |
